TIBETAN
OR NEPALESE RUGS
Tibetan rugs or Nepalese rugs are famous for
their design and colors. Quality includes 80
- 120 knots with 100% wool or wool/silk blend.
The design is an elegant contemporary with beautiful
rich colors.
Unlike rugs from the Middle East and other
regions, Tibetan rugs were not introduced to
the outside world until the 1970s. The Tibetan
art of weaving has been developed and transformed
through time. Its vigor, natural harmony and
visual aesthetics are unlike any other area
rug in the world. The unique knotting system
and the blend of wool gives our rugs exceptional
visual depth of field and endless color possibilities.
The European market has absorbed almost 80
percent of Tibetan rug production since the
1980s. However these rugs are growing in popularity
in the US—they have captured the imagination
of artists and designers for their range of
colors and designs.
Azar Rug & Flooring Gallery has introduced
100 different designs and colors to give our
customers a wide range to choose from. All aspects
of Azar rug production is done within our Kathmandu
facility by our finest craftsmen. For esthetic
and environmental reasons, we use vegetable
dyes only. We blend high quality Tibetan wool
for luster and rich colors, with New Zealand
wool for strength and longevity. Hemp Yarn is
also used on Tibetan Rugs. The blends of wool,
silk and hemp yarns offer endless possibilities
and potentials for color and design. We work
directly with the weavers to ensure quality
control at the best possible prices.
